Title: Colonial effects on the founding of the 1951 Refugee Convention
Authors: Krause, Ulrike
Abstract: Whether internationally or nationally, law does not simply exist but is made by political actors; those involved thus have the power to set standards. Exactly this politicization of international refugee law is at the core of my piece. I explore which and how states discussed the Refugee Convention, and what effects colonialism had.
